One localized outbreak, in Leicester, would also result in a temporary closure of a store in the surrounding area. As waves of Covid-19 infections spread across the US, Apple announced that nearly 50 previously opened stores would temporarily close. However, as June wore on, it became clear that reopening would not be a 1-way street. Apple also significantly increased the number of stores reopening across the United States and began opening up a majority of its retail locations across the UK. Since opening its stores again, Apple has implemented a slew of safety measures that include mask-wearing, regular sanitization of surfaces, and asking customers to book their store visits online.This post is the fifth of a multi-entry series covering the Apple Store retail closing and reopening strategy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
